Do You Absolutely Love Wine… Then Why Not Process Your Own And Be The Envy Of Your Family
Wine making process can be explained in a simplistic way. First the barrels of grapes are squeezed to form pulp which is allowed to go through a process called fermentation after which you will get the real wine.
The art of making wine is easy for people who have patience and interest while for others it is not good to take up this process as doing something without interest will probably create wrong results. Nowadays the wine making process has become simple and many different ways of wine making is now available. But it’s in your hand to make the process complicated or an easy one.
Make sure to plant your favorite or desired fruit you would like to use for your wine making process. If your fruit or berries are at the time where they are ready to be harvested make sure to harvest them correctly to protect your fruit. Harvesting time for your fruit or berries will change depending on the fruit that you are using because no one fruit or berry may have the same harvesting time. Every fruit has it’s own maturing time from when it is ready for harvest. And remember, there will be times when you are making your wine where you will need to know the fruits acid content and sugar levels because these could play a role in what steps you’re going to have to take next in producing your wine.
Now in order to start your wine making process the first step is to juice out the aroma and flavor of the berry by crushing it with the help of some equipment or as old tradition will tell you can always just use your feet. After extracting the juice from the berries you will have to boil them, then they will undergo a soaking process. You can follow any number of ways to do this.
While harvesting your berries you need to calculate roughly how much harvested fruit you will need to make the amount of wine you desire. An example of this would be, for every five gallons of wine you want to produce, you would need roughly fifty pounds of ripened fruit. Calculations are are also needed during your wine making process in order to make your wonderful homemade wine.
While making your own wine at home you may need some wine making tools because they can be very helpful and useful. When it comes to the crushing of the grapes as tradition states you can use your feet as it has been done for years. If you don’t like the thought of getting all that goo on your feet, their has been new tools that can be used to help you with this process which will make crushing your grapes easier, faster, and even cleaner.
After the crushing of the berries is finished, then comes the step to include the yeast. You should only add special wine yeast. The yeast is needed to ferment the wine which is the most important process to make the juice and the sugars of the grape turn in to alcohol. After letting the juice to ferment for a few days you will notice them starting to fizz. One the third day you will clearly notice that the fizz has gone down and you can separate the juice from the seeds and stems.
Make sure that you double-check to determine how much additional sugar you should be putting into your wine. By including this additional sugar it will help the taste and assist in the fermentation process. After you are satisfied with that, then it’s time to pour your wine into a wine barrel. Make sure while your pouring you do not let any air into the barrel for there might be a possibility that your wine may rot. About two to three weeks later your first batch of home made wine should be ready. Just remember the longer you let your wine age the better it should be.
