Teak patio furniture is known for its durability, beauty and resistance to deterioration. Outdoor living space is popular in all parts of this country, but beautiful and long-lasting outdoor furniture makes your patio space a part of your living room. Even in cold climates, more people are using space heaters and durable Teak Patio Furniture to make use of your outdoor rooms during more months each year.
Teak is a dense, coarse-grained hardwood found mostly in the monsoon forests of Southeast Asia. Many of the forests are managed plots under the control of the government. These large deciduous trees are part of the mint family, botanically. Teak wood is impervious to moisture and is used for boat decks, outdoor furniture, indoor floors and veneers for indoor furniture. Teak wood is harvested from the tree trunks.
The natural resinous oils in the hardwood timber makes it very resistant to moisture and to insects. Unlike other woods, metal left in contact with teak doesn’t rust or corrode. Natural teak wood also contains a silica compound that helps to prevent drying, warping, fungus and mold. Teak is very resistant to rot and to many environmental factors.

Have you ever looked for outside patio furniture covers? It’s not as easy as it sounds. Every time my kids want to eat outside I feel like I need to wash down our patio table as it generally covered with squirrel prints and bird poop. I just wasn’t comfortable with my family eating off the table before I had a chance to give it a scrub in some soapy water.
Without annual or bi-annual maintenance my patio furniture really can show its age. I have some great patio furniture. It’s the kind that looks a lot more expensive than it really is. I was able to get it for half price at Lowes about five years ago and I have loved it ever since. The other reason I am searching for some new patio furniture covers is that the elements can be unkind to the finish. The furniture has really aged fairly well but it takes some diligent annual maintenance.

When looking at decorating your patio area, you cannot overlook the benefits of patio chairs to provide somewhere comfortable to sit? For anybody with am outdoor patio area, chairs are a must.
There are quite a large amount of styles and designs to choose from, like the American classic or the high-backed Adirondack chair, which has large armseats as well as a sloping seat. Maybe you wish to live the resort lifestyle along with lounging on a chaise style chair or maybe you desire to take pleasure in a rocking chair.
Will you be using your chair for eating or for reasons of relaxation? Do you want it to move, do you want to stretch your legs out as well as rest your feet or do you desire to share it? Once you answer these questions you can begin looking at the different styles and designs of outdoor chairs.
Most patio chairs are made of wood and the different types of wood have varying life spans. Teak with its natural weather resistance on the whole lasts for fifty years, other woods like pine, cypress and mahogany have shorter life spans but many will last at least 5 years. Resin chairs provide the appearance of painted wood, and they can last forever with no upkeep required at all on your part.

If you want to purchase teak garden furniture, you may have a hard time locating retailers which carry it. Although it is becoming more popular and easier to find, it may still be harder to find due to the increased cost of the pieces. This means that you should be careful of any furniture which is labeled as teak but is low in price.
What makes teak different? It is a hardwood with a very dense grain. This density alone sets it apart from other wood. The harder it is for water to penetrate the wood, the more durable it is when used outdoors. It also contains resin which increases the waterproof nature of the wood. Unlike most other wood, teak naturally contains silica. This is what makes teak furniture so superior when it comes to resisting mold, fungus and rot.
Most teak is grown in areas such as Burma, Indonesia, Thailand and Laos. Originally, all teak furniture was made from wild trees and this caused problems with deforestation. Now, however, teak plantations have been regulated by government agencies and much of the teak used in furniture comes from these plantations. The one main problem with teak is that it takes in the neighborhood of fifty years to grow and this is part of what makes it so expensive to purchase.

When it comes to fashion and interior design, trends come and go. Sometimes I agree with the colors and patterns that appear to be in vogue, sometimes not so much. This year is a good design year in my opinion, especially with the trends for patio furniture covers. It seems that this years designers are continuing the retro feel, but the colors appear to be much more vibrant than the cautious monotone palette of the recent past.
Although, I will be happy to see the end of the recession I don’t mind its impact on fashion. I love vibrant and cheerful designs so I love this season’s offerings. I have seen bright red, blue and yellow daisy designs that bring to mind the flowing peasant skirts and dresses of the 1960s. I have seen wide pink and purple stripes that remind me of the fashions of the 1970s. This year the colour choices and pattern choices are spirit lifting. Designers know what people are looking for and this year it is fun, fun, fun.

Making outdoor patio furniture covers is easier than you think. By making your own covers you get the design and colors that you want. Making your own covers will also save you money. I have seen patio set covers made out of a variety of different fabrics. There is no right fabric. The choice of fabric is up to the individual taste.
Keeping your furniture protected from the elements is an important task if you want to avoid unnecessary damage caused by exposure. Depending on how far south you are, the sun can be extremely hard on your wood or metal furniture as well as its protective coating, whether that is oil, sealer or paint. For many of us who live close to the ocean, salt spray is an additional concern which will prematurely age your furniture, causing it’s lifespan to be shortened, or increasing maintenance time and costs; both of which can be avoided by protecting it before it gets damaged.

I have some lovely furniture that looks like it is made from exotic hard wood but it really isn’t. I expect it is made with pine and stained to look exotic. I got a great deal on the furniture at Home Depot about six years ago. Another reason I desire some new patio furniture covers is that the rain and the sun can really destroy the finish on my wooden furniture. The furniture has really aged well and I have nothing to complain about. However, without annual or bi-annual maintenance it can show its age.

In years past, patio furniture was not so inviting a piece of furniture to sit upon as the type of patio furniture we have today. Thankfully, the manufacturers realize that we need the same type of quality in outdoor furniture as we do in our selections of indoor furniture.
There are a lot of different styles to choose from; for example, wood, plastic, bamboo, and wicker seating and lots more. One accessory that is important for your outdoor furniture is patio cushions. It is the cushions themselves that often complete the look and functionality of this type of outdoor furniture and most important of all makes for comfortable seating.
You want quality cushions that provide you with comfortable seating in order to enjoy your summer evenings outdoors. When you purchase the best quality of cushion that you can afford it will last you so much longer than going a cheaper route.
Generally, cushions are not so expensive. Various textures, colors and styles available will suit your budget. You can find the best combination of cushions for your patio furniture. Various selections are available at major retailers and in garden centers. You can also find great bargains by shopping online.
